SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A real estate study found an increasing number of home foreclosures in Hampden County.
Register of Deeds Donald Ashe details Hampden County real estate activity twice each year. Ashe told 22News there should be fewer property owners facing foreclosure in the coming years.
“So, now the banks and the lending institutions, they’re more realistic, they want 20 percent down and which they should because the people know what they have to pay,” said Ashe.
Ashe said because of the inability of many people to afford a home, Western Massachusetts’ robust real estate market may be a thing of the past.
