BELCHERTOWN, Mass. (WWLP) – The search for a 16 year-old girl that involved a state police helicopter has come to an end, after the teen was found safe.
Belchertown Police Sgt. Bruce Jenks told 22News that the 16 year-old girl was located early Tuesday afternoon, and is fine.
Jenks said the girl had been getting ready for school at her Warner Road home Tuesday morning, and her parents later noticed she was missing. Police tracked her to the area of the Quabbin Reservoir, and police dogs, as well as the state police air wing were called in to help look for her.
Jenks said that police wanted to make sure she was all right. He said that there were no threats against the girl, but the fact that she left home without telling her parents led to this level of response.
