BOSTON (State House) – Gov. Charlie Baker suggested Tuesday he’ll offer lobster and seek salmon in his inevitable Super Bowl bet with Washington Gov. Jay Inslee.
The New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks are set to meet in the Super Bowl on Feb. 1, after Seattle upended the Green Bay Packers and the New England Patriots trounced the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday.
During an appearance on WMEX Tuesday with Howie Carr, Baker was asked if he will attend the game, which will be held in Arizona.
“We’ll talk about it,” Baker responded.
He later said that if he did attend there would “have to be something formally for me to do there.”
Baker said he had not connected yet with Inslee, but expected they would.
Baker also said he previously attended a Super Bowl with friends.
Chiming in on news reports about an NFL probe into whether deflated footballs were used in Sunday’s AFC Championship in Foxborough, Baker said, “I can’t believe we’re talking about deflated footballs.”
At the end of a press conference on the state budget Tuesday morning, a reporter asked Baker about the allegedly deflated balls.
“There’s no good place to go when you’re talking about allegedly deflated balls,” Baker responded.
