BOSTON (WWLP) – Protesters marched for miles through the streets of Boston Monday and staged a “die-in” in honor of teenager Michael Brown. The protest, one of many Black Lives Matter actions across the country on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, was attended by hundreds of people.
Demonstrators are seeking an end to police brutality and racial profiling, and are calling attention to Brown’s death, and those of other people of color at the hands of police officers.
Monday’s march came less than a week after a controversial protest, in which demonstrators attached themselves to concrete-filled barrels to block Interstate 93 during the morning commute. Twenty-nine people are facing criminal charges in connection with that protest.
