NEW YORK (NBC NEWS) – Speaking to media, Pope Francis touched on his upcoming trip to the north east United States and his hopes to see California.
He said he was visiting Philadelphia “for the meeting of the families,” New York to visit the United Nations, and will visit the White House in Washington D.C. The pope added he would like to go to California for the Canonization of Junipero, but said there would be a “problem of time.”
The Pontiff also touched on freedom of speech, a hot topic since French satirical magazine was targeted by terrorists for publishing cartoons of the prophet Mohammad.
Pope Francis said freedom of expression is “important,” but that people should be more “prudent” and “educated” as not to provoke others with constant insults.
