Marching In Selma
The stars and crew of "Selma" join a commemorative march to Selma, Alabama's historic Edmund Pettus Bridge ahead of MLK Day.

(WSFA) The filmmakers and cast of the movie “Selma” took part in a day-long celebration to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Sunday in Selma, Alabama. Selma residents were invited to join them in a commemorative march Sunday afternoon.

“Selma” Director Ava DuVernay, stars David Oyelowo and Common and the film’s producers Oprah Winfrey, Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner participated in the event.

The celebration started with a question and answer session for local high school students and teachers with some of the filmmakers and cast at Selma High School. Congresswoman Terri Sewell was a moderator.

The day ended with a special screening of “Selma” at the Walton Theater for state officials and the film’s local cast and crew.
