Hartford, Conn. (WTNH)– State Representative Brandon McGee Jr. has received a number of threats, some even threatening to kill him, after someone snapped a photo of his car parked in a handicap spot.
McGee, serves the Windsor and Hartford areas for the 5th Assembly District, and recently a photo of his blue BMW, parked in a handicap spot outside of a Dunkin Donuts on Capital Avenue hit the internet.
Since the photo hit the web on Friday, McGee says he has apologized and even posted his apology on his Facebook page, which he had to take down after a rash of derogatory comments.
McGee says he was in a rush that morning and didn’t realize he parked in a handicap spot. He says he even left his car running.
“I did something that was stupid and wrong and I apologize to those who are actually in need of a handicap space,” McGee said. But as for the threats, he says it’s getting out of hand.
According to the Connecticut House Democrats website, McGee is serving his second term in the legislature and is a member of the legislature’s Judiciary, Human Services, and Labor and Public Employees Committees.
