Since the photo hit the web on Friday, McGee says he has apologized and even posted his apology on his Facebook page, which he had to take down after a rash of derogatory comments.

McGee says he was in a rush that morning and didn’t realize he parked in a handicap spot. He says he even left his car running.

“I did something that was stupid and wrong and I apologize to those who are actually in need of a handicap space,” McGee said. But as for the threats, he says it’s getting out of hand.

According to the Connecticut House Democrats website, McGee is serving his second term in the legislature and is a member of the legislature’s Judiciary, Human Services, and Labor and Public Employees Committees.
