Seven children removed from home after guns, drugs found

HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH)- One man has been arrested after Hartford Police find multiple guns and an abundance of drugs inside a home.

According to police, detectives from the Vice Intelligence and Narcotics Unit and with the assistance of the ERT Team, executed a search warrant at 262 Maple Avenue. Detectives were able to find out that there were several firearms and narcotics “stashed” inside the apartment. A search of the apartments interior revealed 3 firearms, numerous rounds of live ammunition, crack cocaine, marijuana and U.S. currency. 25 year old Joxell Mendez was placed under arrest for various firearm and narcotics charges. 7 children were in the home at the time of the execution. DCF was notified.

Mendez is facing multiple charges including: possession of controlled substance, possession of narcotics, criminal possession of firearm (3 counts), PWITS narcotics, PWITS Narco 1500 feet of a school zone, possession of a stolen firearm, drug factory, 7 counts of risk of injury to a minor. He’s being held on $450,000 bond. He has 13 previous arrests.
