SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Thursday marked the start of the fourteenth year of the Spalding Hoophall Classic, a high school basket ball tournament played at Blake Arena at Springfield College.
52 teams from western Massachusetts and across the country will participate in this year’s tournament. Thursday featured 8 teams from western Massachusetts.
In addition to giving college scouts a chance to see quality high school players in action, the Hoophall Classic helps the local economy, and improves Springfield’s image.
On patron attending Thursday said, “With so many other things in Springfield that might not be in the best light, you know it’s a good way to bring positivity to the city and shed a better light.”
The Hoophall Classic will feature match-ups at Springfield College through Monday night.
