Pistol seized in Belchertown traffic stop

BELCHERTOWN, Mass. (WWLP) – State Police seized a loaded pistol and arrested two men during a traffic stop in Belchertown early Tuesday morning.

State Police Media Relations told 22News Trooper Ryan Fogerty of the Belchertown barracks stopped a Ford Explorer that was swerving on Route 202 in Belchertown just after 1:40 a.m. Tuesday.

State Police said neither the operator, 22-year-old Troy Harris of Springfield, nor his passenger, 21-year-old Jaquan Green of Holyoke had a valid Massachusetts driver’s license.

During the traffic stop, Trooper Fogerty found a loaded Walther PPK .380 in the vehicle.  Fogarty said the pistol had a round in the chamber and 5 rounds in the magazine.

Both men were arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a firearm without a license and possession of ammunition without an FID card.

Harris, was also charged with driving without a license, and a marked lanes violation.
