SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Neighborhood complaints about drug activity led Springfield narcotics detectives to arrest a mother and her son during a raid Monday afternoon.

Springfield Police Sgt. John Delaney told 22News that 27 year-old Manuel Vazquez and 57 year-old Wanda Santos were arrested inside their Fairmount Street home after what he calls a “lengthy investigation.”

Delaney says that police received word that cocaine and heroin were being kept for sale at the home at 18 Fairmount. They obtained a search warrant, and inside they allegedly found heroin and cocaine packaged for sale, as well as scales, packaging material, and nearly $400 in cash.

Vazquez and Santos are both charged with possession of heroin with intent to distribute and possession of cocaine with intent to distribute. They were scheduled for arraignment Tuesday in Springfield District Court.
