CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – You can start filing your 2014 income tax on January 20th. The Internal Revenue Service expects to process nearly 150 million individual tax returns this year.
22News spoke with IRS Spokesman Mark Hanson about preparing your tax return. He said look out for your W2’s, 1099’s and information on your mortgage interest rates in your mail.
“Basically, now’s the time of the year when everything could be arriving, and you’re going to want to make sure you have it all well organized. So when it does come time to file, you have all that paperwork ready to go,” Hanson said.
Hanson warned, especially during the tax season, watch out for thieves calling you and pretending to be from the IRS. Never give out your personal information over the phone.
