Barnes Air National Guard change of command ceremony

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – The men and women at Barnes Air National Guard base, who provide the first line of defense for the Northeast have two new commanders Saturday night.

The change of command ceremony at the 104th Fighter Wing saw Lt. Colonel David Halasi-Kun take command of the 131st fighter squadron. The 131st is made up of the legendary F15 fighters based at Barnes in Westfield.

The new wing commander of the 131st, Lt. Colonel Halasi-Kun told 22News, how he sees his assignment in command of the F15’s, “I hope to see the continued modernization of our fleet, the F15s. Our enemies continue to become more lethal. We want to keep pace with our enemies. These planes continue to be upgraded, modified.”

The 104th operation support flight team at Barnes also has a new commander. Lt. Colonel Sean Halbrook took the reins from Lt. Colonel Kenneth Fedora.
