Family and friends remember Firefighter Kevin Regan

Regan had been a Westfield firefighter for 43 years

WESTFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Family, friends and colleagues spent Friday night remembering fallen Westfield Firefighter Kevin Regan at Firtion-Adams Funeral Home.

A 1930 C-Grade Fire Truck that Regan cherished was parked in the front; Westfield firefighters said Regan loved driving it in parades. He worked alongside his father, brother and sister, Fire Chief Mary Regan.

62-year-old Regan was struck and killed by an alleged drunk driver on Route 28 near the Parkers River Bridge in West Yarmouth. The longtime firefighter died at Cape Cod Hospital soon after the accident.

Regan’s fiance, Lynda Cavanaugh, was also hit by the alleged drunk driver while she and Regan were crossing the roadway on foot. She is expected to survive.

A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m.Saturday at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament at 127 Holyoke Road in Westfield.
