About Peanut:
Meet Peanut, a sweet southern boy (from Texas!) who came to Dakin on January 3rd and who just wants some love in his life. He is so full of energy and is always very happy to see you! He’s easygoing and gentle, very affectionate and loves to give kisses! He is crate trained, and walks well on a leash, you could almost say he prances. He will need some training and he loves to learn new things. He has a lot of energy, and enjoys playing fetch with his Kong toy and likes chew ropes. He also likes to play fetch with any kind of ball-sometimes just to carry it around in his mouth! He is a very sweet natured dog, and is just happy to be with you, even if you’re just sitting on the couch.  Peanut has no history living with cats, and it would be helpful if his new human had some experience in having a dog, so they can work with his high energy level.  If there are kids in the family, it might be best if they’re older (13 and up), but if not, bring them in to meet Peanut at the Springfield adoption center!

The Pawscars & Red Carpet Fashion Parade
Dakin’s annual fundraiser is a one-of-a-kind event taking place February 28 at the MassMutual Center in Springfield. The Pawscars will be a night that blends a fashion show (starring local celebrities modeling evening wear and accompanied by rescue dogs) with some affectionate spoofing of Hollywood and the Oscars. We’ll show videos submitted by the public of their pets reenacting iconic moments from cinematic history. Tickets are $125 for the dinner and entertainment, $50 for entertainment only and make GREAT holiday gifts! For more info, visit our website at!

New Puppy?  No Problem!
Do you have a new puppy that has your head spinning? These 4 legged toddlers sure can get a family all tangled up with those puppy antics. Have no fear, Dakin is here to help families deal with crazy puppy behaviors. This 1-hour FREE workshop on Saturday, January 10 at 11am at our Springfield location will discuss house and crate training, chewing, and, oh boy, those puppy teeth!  Please do not bring your puppy to this class, and you must register in advance.
