(WESH) More than three dozen same-sex couples from central Florida were legally married on Tuesday.
In Orange County, Rebecca Stein and her partner, Kaylyn Cooper, were the first female couple to get married. Robert Brings and his partner, Bill Stevens, were the first male couple to get married in the county.
“It’s an amazing feeling to be able to have it in hand and make it official,” said Cooper.
A mass wedding ceremony was held in Orlando Tuesday morning. The ceremony included 44 same-sex couples and was officiated by Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer at city hall.
One of a handful of protestors yelled during the ceremony, but was unsuccessful in his efforts to stop the event.
