EAST LONGMEADOW, Mass. (WWLP) – Family and friends remembered Garrett Gagne Tuesday night. The 22-year-old college student from Longmeadow was run over by a police cruiser in Cape Cod.

Throughout the night, hundreds came out to Forastiere Smith Funeral Home in East Longmeadow to honor Gagne’s life.

Gagne was a star lacrosse player and skier for Longmeadow high school, and a student at St. Lawrence University in New York.

According to a police report, a Chatham police officer was responding to a call when he ran over Gagne, who was lying in the middle of an unlit street around 4am New Year’s morning. Gagne was in the Cape celebrating the holiday with friends.

Services will be held Wednesday morning at 10 AM at the First Church of Christ, in Longmeadow.
