GREENFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Western Mass. residents are experiencing bitterly cold temperatures this week, and these freezing temperatures are affecting some local businesses.
Tuesday, Franklin County experienced below freezing temperatures. It’s no secret that with weather conditions like this, many people would rather stay home in order stay warm.
Staying home, or indoors, means fewer people are making shopping a priority. Some businesses here in Greenfield told 22News, they’ve noticed a decrease in customers while others are see their usual crowd.
Kayla Ford of The Clay Oven said, “We have seen a decrease, but at the same time people still seem to love the food so they keep coming no matter how bad the weather is.”
Beth Greeney of Hattapon’s Thai Kitchen said, “I don’t feel like we’ve seen a decrease in customers at all, but I think it’s probably because, you know, it’s been the holidays and next week can be a different story.”
Though it was snowing for much of the day in Greenfield, it didn’t keep businesses from opening as usual.
