(NBC News) The 114th United States Congress gets underway today in Washington.
Republicans are taking over the Senate, and they’re looking to put a lot of their ideas on President Obama’s desk.
The new members will be sworn in at noon.
Their first test will be the Keystone XL Oil Pipeline. Republicans insist it’ll create 42,000 construction jobs.
The House plans to approve Keystone Friday; the Senate is expected to vote later this month.
