Winter Weather Advisory for Pioneer Valley

Potential for snow, sleet, and freezing rain Saturday night

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Hampden, Hampshire, and Franklin Counties from Saturday 4:00 p.m. to Sunday 10:00 a.m. An Advisory has also been issued for Berkshire County from 4:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. Saturday.

A Winter Weather Advisory is issued when snow and/or ice is forecast to develop, but accumulations are expected to be light. Any snow or ice would result in slippery conditions on untreated roadways and sidewalks. When temperatures are below freezing, drivers need to be especially careful on bridges and overpasses where slippery spots can easily develop.

22News Storm Team Meteorologist Ashley Baylor says that snow, sleet, and freezing rain will develop on Saturday night; making for deteriorating road conditions. The wintry mix should change over to all rain by Sunday morning.
