SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Companies will be ringing in the new year with some more job openings. The jobs website CareerBuilder said in their annual forecast that more than one third of employers expect to add full time, permanent employees to their companies in 2015.
The top five areas these employers are looking to hire for included sales, customer service, information technology, production, and administrative work. Hiring for jobs in science, technology, engineering, and math will continue to be strong throughout 2015.
22News spoke with Konrad Rogowski of FutureWorks Career Center in Springfield about what hiring trends we are seeing here in western Massachusetts.
“The areas that we’re seeing that remain primarily active: certainly in health care, in those areas, administrative, retail, and manufacturing. I would say those are the three areas we see the most activity in on an ongoing basis presently,” Rogowski said.
Rogowski also said that the new minimum wage will affect the number of people applying for temporary, part time jobs more than it will affect permanent jobs.
