BOSTON (WWLP) – Very few people on Governor-elect Baker’s transition team are from western Massachusetts, and one prominent local lawmaker says he is disappointed about that.
Out of Baker’s approximately 175-member transition team, only seven are from Hampden County, and none of them are from Berkshire, Franklin, or Hampshire Counties.
Amherst Democratic Sen. Stanley Rosenberg, who is expected to become the next president of the Massachusetts Senate next week, said that he is surprised so few people from western Massachusetts were included.
“It was a bit surprising to see that out of a hundred and some odd people that there were quite a few from Hampden County, but not further west, so there was some disappointment with that,” Rosenberg said.
Rosenberg, who as senate president will be one of the three most powerful people on Beacon Hill, said he is disappointed, but doesn’t feel snubbed. Rosenberg says there is a lot of informal input people, especially in western Massachusetts, can deliver.
