CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – The hike in electric rates couldn’t come at a worse time. We’re expecting below freezing temperatures in the coming week. That means many of you will be cranking up the heat.
This season, the Energy Information Administration says oil will be the most expensive home heating method costing you around $2,500 this season. Following oil is propane.
Even though some rates are going up, you still stand to save about $1,000 if you alternatively used electricity. However, the most cost effective method is natural gas.
Denese Rees of South Hadley told 22News she just switched from oil to gas and says it makes a difference, “In Holyoke, I had to use oil services for help because I was stuck. I don’t have to do that anymore, I can give it to somebody else because I can support myself on the gas,”
