SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The Diocese of Springfield has been selected to receive a 1st Class Relic of St. John Paul II.
The relic is a piece of cloth with John Paul’s blood on it. It was saved after he was shot in St. Peter’s Square in Vatican City in 1981.
The relic will be presented to Bishop Mitchell Rozanski at the 5:00 p.m. Mass on Saturday, January 31st, at St. Cecilia Parish in Wilbraham.
The popular pontiff led the Catholic Church from 1978 until his death in 2005.
