MADISON COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) – A 25-year-old man was arrested after he admitted to attempting to cause his pregnant girlfriend to miscarry on Christmas Day.
Madison County Sheriff’s Department investigators responded to a Madison County home on W. Main Street in Fishersburg, just outside of Lapel, Christmas morning.
They said a pregnant woman smelled a strange odor in a drink that was made for her by her boyfriend, Jarod Rebuck.
Officials said the woman became suspicious that Rebuck had put some sort of chemical in her drink, and looked through his cell phone and found Google searches of “ways to cause a miscarriage.”
Rebuck admitted to police that he had searched on Google, and that he’d put something in his girlfriend’s drink so that she would miscarry.
He was arrested and booked into the Madison County Jail on a felony attempted feticide charge.
He is currently there on a 72-hour-hold, with a 20,000 full cash bond.
The Madison County Sheriff said late Friday evening Rebuck put clary sage, bought at an herbal supplement store, in his girlfriend’s drink.
The woman declined to speak with 24-Hour News 8 on camera.
Rebuck also declined an interview request Friday from the Madison County Jail.
