SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The Springfield Rescue Mission has a goal to meet the physical and spiritual needs of the hungry, the homeless and poor.
Tuesday night, dozens of volunteers prepared and served the Rescue Mission’s annual Christmas dinner. Hundreds of people sat down for a hot holiday meal, among them, several families.
“The meal’s really good,” said Natalie Olivera of Springfield. “I mean, with all the nephews and nieces, we just came out to have a good family time.”
Every Dinner guest received a box of Christmas gifts, and earlier, Rescue Mission volunteers delivered meals to the elderly and disabled.
The Mission will serve a Christmas Eve breakfast Wednesday morning.
