CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – Instead of having a white Christmas, it looks like western Massachusetts will have a rainy one, as storms pass through the area in the next few days.
The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for all of western Mass starting Wednesday afternoon. The watch for Hampden, Hampshire, and Franklin counties will be until Thursday morning, while the watch in Berkshire County will be until Friday morning.
According to 22News Meteorologist Brian Lapis, it’s expected to rain all Christmas Eve, with steady rain arriving around noon. The rain will be heavy at times Wednesday afternoon, and windy, and will extend into Christmas Day.
A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on current forecasts. You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.
