LEE, Mass. (WWLP) – More Americans are researching trips to Cuba, now that the White House has plans to ease travel restrictions.
Site traffic for Cuba on TripAdvisor has tripled this week after President Obama’s announcement of normalized diplomatic relations between the United States and Cuba.
22News asked western Massachusetts residents if vacationing in Cuba would be of an interest to them. David Redstone of Lee said, “People can’t go there before and they can go there now and don’t have to worry about all the consequences. I’d go. Plus the atmosphere. I would definitely go.”
There’s been mixed reactions to re-opening the door to Cuba after half a century, but the U.S. has plans to open an embassy and press for reforms to help boost Cuba’s economy.
