CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – A memorial and dinner were held Friday night in Chicopee to remember the lives lost due to homelessness in western Massachusetts.
At Lorraine’s Soup Kitchen, residents in need attended a memorial service and had a free meal. Homelessness is a problem across the country and especially right here in western Mass. That’s why volunteers say tonight was so important.
Cailene Wagner, an Elms College nursing student said, “It was great. We had a lot of people come in for dinner and they were all very friendly. We got an opportunity to sit down and talk to some of them and they all really enjoyed the meal.”
Lorraine’s Soup Kitchen serves dinner Monday through Friday from 5 to 6:30pm. They also have a food pantry where they hand out groceries to residents in need.
