SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Springfield narcotics detectives seized more than eleven pounds of cocaine and 2,700 bags of heroin during a drug bust Friday night.
According to Springfield Police Sgt. John Delaney, around 8:00 p.m. Friday, officers conducted a drug raid at 17 Chase Avenue, which has been the target of a lengthy investigation.
Police entered the home Friday night and arrested 31-year-old Jason Arias of Springfield. Sgt. Delaney said police seized 5 1/2 kilos of pure Cocaine, 2700 bags of Heroin, Two pounds of Marijuana, 2 handguns, $58,000 in cash, and drug paraphernalia used in the packaging and weighing of the illegal drugs.
Arias is being charged with Trafficking in Cocaine (Over 200 grams), Trafficking in Heroin, Possession of Firearm While Committing a felony, Possession of Ammo, Two Counts of Carrying a Firearm.
Sgt. Delaney said Arias will be held over the weekend without bail, and will be arraigned Monday in Springfield District Court. The street value of the illegal narcotics is well over $300,000.
The Springfield Police Departments Narcotics Unit under the direction of Lt. Alberto Ayala and the Street Crime Unit Under the direction of Lt. Robert Tardiff worked together in the arrest.
