(KARE) A Minnesota kindergartner recovering from a rare cancer has received a surprise visit from the online doctor who first noticed his symptoms from more than 1,000 miles away.
Nolan Luther, 5, is now in remission from a childhood cancer called rhabdomyosarcoma. In his case, a malignant tumor growing in his inner ear caused facial paralysis.
His parents first noticed something was wrong when Nolan’s face began to droop during an outing during Memorial Day weekend of 2013.
The family initially planned to see a doctor after the long holiday weekend, but after more thought, decided to turn to online care for reassurance.
“Within 30 seconds of talking to the doctor, she had us realizing the gravity of the situation,” said Kevin Luther.
