CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – A pedestrian who was struck by a car on Broadway Street in Chicopee is now in stable condition, but the driver of that car is now facing a drunk driving charge. Chicopee Police Officer Mike Wilk notified 22News that Heather Walker, 36, of Chicopee was held on bail overnight at Chicopee police headquarters on a charge of operating under the influence of liquor, causing serious bodily injury.

Wilk says police were called to the area of 86 Broadway Street at around 6:45 Thursday night, where they found the injured pedestrian. A passenger inside Walker’s car was also hurt and taken to the hospital, but was released later in the night. As of Friday afternoon, the pedestrian remained at Baystate Medical Center in stable condition.

The accident was just one of three crashes involving pedestrians in western Massachusetts Thursday night. Pedestrians had to be hospitalized after being struck by cars on Riverdale Street in West Springfield and on Main Street in Great Barrington.
