About Moonlight and Tony:
Moonlight is a 1 year-old female who is very sweet-natured. She’s a Peruvian guinea pig. Most guinea pigs live about 5-7 years, and they make a great pet for older children who have mastered proper handling techniques. Guinea pig pellets are the basis of their diet and timothy hay-based pellets are recommended for adults. Avoid those made with nuts, seeds, dried fruits and corn products. They love leafy green vegetables, green peppers, peas, apples, blueberries, oranges and grapes. Believe it or not, they’re known to be vocal, and can whistle and grunt when they’re excited or squeak with delight when their favorite humans enter the room! Come see Moonlight at Dakin’s Springfield location…she’s very special and can’t wait to go home with somebody!

Fun fact: A happy guinea pig will jump straight up in the air – that’s called popcorning!

Tony is a Shih Tzu whose family had to move and couldn’t bring him with them. He’s a very gentle-mannered boy who is unfamiliar with children, but could probably do very well in a home with them. Because of that, we recommend he be with kids 13 and up, but if your kids are younger, bring them down to Dakin’s Springfield location for a meet and greet. Tony has no history with cats, and he would be an ideal first dog for anyone, which means he’s pretty easygoing! His ideal home would be calm to reflect his low energy level, and while he enjoys a good hike, he’s a champion snuggler and couch potato.
