(NBC News) Accused Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev appeared in court for the first time since July 2013 Thursday, arriving at Boston’s federal courthouse before dawn under heavy security.

It’s the final hearing before jury selection begins in January.
Tsarnaev’s lawyers have requested that the trial be moved out of Boston, and say they will also ask for a delay in the trial’s start date.
