Local musician awarded the Citizenship Honors

The Holyoke St. Patrick’s Parade steps off on March 22nd

HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) – A familiar name to western Massachusetts music lovers will wear the Citizenship Award sash for next year’s Holyoke St. Patrick’s Parade.

Western Massachusetts “Music Man” Dan Kane of the Dan Kane Singers was awarded the Citizenship Honors by the parade committee Thursday night. His community service includes donating proceeds from his concerts to various charities throughout the area.

According to Barbara Bernard of the Nominating Committee, “His last concert was this past Sunday at Our Lady of the Cross Church and the proceeds will go to repair the stained glass window. He’s a very deserving person.”

Kane was not at Thursday night’s announcement because he was working. The Holyoke St. Patrick’s Parade steps off on March 22nd.
