Condo complex residents pitch-in for children in need

More than 200 toys collected in Toys for Tots drive

WILBRAHAM, Mass. (WWLP) – Our Toys for Tots collection effort here at 22News wrapped up on Monday, but residents of the Cedar Ridge condominium community in Wilbraham are now just ending a drive of their own. Residents gathered more than 200 toys for the program, which will be picked up by U.S. Marines on Friday.

The drive was made possible through the efforts of the “unofficial mayor of Cedar Ridge,” Bernie “Red” Gorman. He told 22News that he thought it would be a nice gesture on the part of the residents if they could collect these toys for less-fortunate children in our area.

“Felt very good, right, that they could contribute to something that was worthwhile,” Gorman said.

He told 22News that with the success of this year’s drive, they hope to make it an annual event.
