Tech gadgets taking over holiday shopping lists

Phones, tablets, and game consoles top the list

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – New gadgets are dominating the holiday shopping industry this year. 22News is working for you with a closer look at some of the top gifts people are asking for.

Apple claims the iPad Air 2 has a faster processor, and better camera, than its predecessor. But unlike the size of their other new products, this tablet is only a quarter-inch thick.

Microsoft hopes its newest tablet will catch the eye of business professionals. The Surface Pro 3 is compatible with Windows 8 and Microsoft Office software.

Pearl Seaha of Westfield told 22News she knows what she wants for the holidays: “The Samsung Galaxy S4, because it’s fast, it’s reliable, and it has a nice big screen, and it takes really good pictures.”

If you’re willing to spend a little bit more on someone this holiday season, try checking out the TV deals. Samsung is offering $30 off their 32 inch HD TV, and there’s plenty more sales just like that one.

Beats by Dre hopes to catch the ear of music lovers this year with their new Solo 2 wireless headphones. They’re advertised as having a 10-12 hour battery life and a built in Bluetooth radio, but for nearly $300, you’d have to listen to a lot of music to get your moneys worth.

Best Buy employee Jacob Reilly-Wilson said, “They’d be a great gift for people who like going to the gym, you see a lot of people there wearing them. Also for someone who likes to go on a run, just pop in the head phones and go for a run, so preferably athletic people.”

If you’re on a budget and shopping for a more adventurous age group, the Xbox One has been selling for $50 less than its original price.
