Rare octopus eggs viewed in Alaskan aquarium

(KTUU) Visitors to the Alaska SeaLife Center in Seward are being treated to a rare sight.

Dot, the aquarium’s Giant Pacific Octopus, is currently tending to thousands of eggs.

It’s extremely rare for octopi to successfully breed in captivity, and the SeaLife Center staff is thrilled to be able to share the unique experience with visitors.

It’s even more rare for the eggs to hatch into young octopi that survive into adulthood.
