Firefighters control fire in Gill, condo damaged

GILL, Mass. (WWLP) – Flames were coming from the windows of a Franklin County condominium building early Friday afternoon, shortly after one neighbor heard what sounded like a small explosion.

About a dozen fire trucks from various local departments were called to help fight the fire at a detached condo on Mountain Road Estates in Gill.

Neighbor Mark Iacuessa told 22News that he did not hear an explosion, but he did see heavy smoke. “One of the neighbors heard an explosion, and called 9-1-1; a small explosion,” Lacuessa said. “And you see the scene that’s in front of you: lots of smoke, lots of fire. Lots of smoke, mostly.”

Firefighters still haven’t determined what caused that fire. There appears to be a lot of damage, and its unlikely the people who lived there will be able to stay there Friday night or this weekend.

Also, there have been no reports of any injuries. 22News is covering this story and will have the latest on on-air and WWLP.com.
