HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) – Baystate Medical Center employees were sorting through hospital scrubs Friday morning to donate to caregivers in Africa.
The employees began a “scrub-a-thon” back in early November when they were asked to donate gently used scrubs. Volunteers gathered at the hospital’s warehouse in Holyoke today to prepare to ship them out. The hospital recently changed the color of their scrubs to make them more identifiable to patients, but they didn’t want to waste the scrubs they had.
Nancy Shendell-Falik, Registered Nurse at Baystate Medical Center said, “I think we take for granted the wealth of our country and the ability to have uniforms to be able to perform more jobs so anything that we can do to be able to support more workers in another country is appreciated.”
They collected 600 scrubs in all.
