103-year-old works as Salvation Army ringer

(WETM) “I’m the happiest person in the world today, to think I’m 103 years old and feel as good as I do,” says Pearl Sutphen.

When she was born: William Taft was President, the Chicago Cubs had won a World Series just three years prior, and the Titanic was still an unsinkable ship waiting for her maiden voyage. The day was December, 9th 1911.

Now 103 years later, a lot has changed in the world, but Sutphen’s passion for helping others is still as strong as it always was. For her staying healthy means staying active.

“I push myself as far as I can. I’m thankful I can walk, and I do. I walk, I keep exercising and that is the best to keep me on my feet,” Sutphen says.
