“Rise to the Challenge” event held at Forest Park M.S.

Workshops included teaching children how to voice their opinions in the classroom

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The Springfield Parent Academy hosted the “Rise to the Challenge” event to help parents and their children develop strong leadership skills.

The event was held in classrooms at Forest Park Middle School. Workshops included teaching children how to voice their opinions in the classroom, and teaching parents how to motivate their children to succeed in school.

The goal was to teach parents the skills they need to make sure their children graduate both middle school and high school.

One parent told 22News she hopes that going to tonight’s workshop will make her more prepared to motivate her children. “I didn’t go that far in school so I look forward to these two doing it,” said one Springfield Academy parent.

The workshops were offered in both English and Spanish. Parents also learned how to check their child’s grades online.
