2 seriously injured in Amherst car crash

AMHERST, Mass. (WWLP) – A man and a woman suffered serious injuries in a crash that closed Potwine Lane in South Amherst around noontime Wednesday.

Mary Carey, spokesperson for the Northwestern District Attorney’s Office, told 22News that the car that the man was driving crashed into a tree, injuring both him and the woman who was his passenger. Both victims were taken to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield.

Carey says that the Amherst Police Department and the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section (CARS) are looking into the cause of the crash.

Potwine Lane runs between Route 116 and Middle Street in South Amherst, not far from the Hampshire College campus.
