Slow-moving coastal storm to impact WMass

Wintry storm expected to last three days

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – Western Massachusetts residents can expect rain, snow, and a wintry mix over the next few days, as a slow moving storm heads up the Atlantic coast.

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for all of Hampden County and eastern portions of Hampshire and Franklin Counties. Meanwhile a Winter Storm Watch is in effect for western portions of Franklin and Hampshire Counties, as well as all of Berkshire County.

22News Storm Team Meteorologist Ashley Baylor says that western Massachusetts could start with a wintry mix, which will switch over to all rain. Areas above 1,000 feet in elevation, however, could stick with a wintry mix for a longer period of time. Due to the possibility for heavy rain, an areal Flood Watch is in effect for eastern Hampden County until 1:00 Wednesday afternoon.

Rain and snow showers could continue into Wednesday, with flurries possible on Thursday. For details, check out your latest 22News Storm Team Forceast.
