Event held for “Festival of Trees” donors

$100K for the Boys and Girls Club was raised last year

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A special “Thank you” event was held Monday night to the people who create and donate the trees for Springfield’s “Festival of Trees.”

Dozens of donors were invited to Tower Square in Springfield Monday. These are the businesses and individuals who decorate and donate the trees that are on display and are raffled off to benefit the Boys and Girls Club.

Karen Arpin of Ludlow has been decorating trees for the festival for ten years. She said, “I got a nice letter from a woman last year that won my tree, and she donated it to a shelter, I think. It made me feel really good. I just love doing it. It’s for the kids and stuff.”

Last year the “Festival of Trees” raised 100-thousand dollars for the Boys and Girls Club. We’re told that they’re already on track to exceed that, with an expected 10-thousand visitors by the time the festival ends Sunday, December 17th, when the 141 trees will be won by lucky raffle ticket-holders.
