BOSTON (WWLP) – Massachusetts General Hospital has informed their staff that a patient admitted Tuesday is under investigation for the Ebola virus.
According to the MGH website, around 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, the Boston Public Health Commission determined that the patient was under investigation for Ebola while undergoing a routine monitoring.
The MGH added that for the past several months the hospital has been preparing for the potential of treating a patient with suspected Ebola. This patient is now in a specially prepared area within the hospital, and diagnostic testing is under way.
Even though the diagnosis of Ebola has not been confirmed, the MGH staff is taking the actions recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as a precaution.
