SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Wednesday’s heavy wet snow brought down branches and wires all across western Massachusetts, knocking out power to thousands of customers throughout the region. Crews were able to restore power for many overnight, but the majority of people who lost their electricity Wednesday night still had no power by Thanksgiving morning. By the mid-afternoon, there about 14,000 Western Massachusetts Electric Company and National Grid customers without electricity.
As of 3:45 P.M., there were a total of 14,002 customers without electricity in Hampden, Hampshire, Franklin, and Berkshire Counties. The largest outages remained in Worthington, Colrain, Gill, Northfield, Shelburne, Greenfield, Montague, Orange, Charlemont, Russell, Great Barrington, Sandisfield, Sheffield, and West Stockbridge.
