Bus and train stations busy ahead of Thanksgiving holiday

Travel moved well in the morning, but delays came in the afternoon

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Storm or no storm, this is the busiest time of the year for bus and train travel in Springfield and other cities across the country.

All day, travelers were getting on and off at the Peter Pan Bus Terminal in downtown Springfield. Peter Pan spokesman John Shecrallah told 22News, drivers are taking the storm into consideration, but there were no serious delays during the morning. By the afternoon, some bus trips had been cancelled or delayed. Click here for the latest from Peter Pan.

One of those waiting to see his relatives was Marc Warner of Northampton, who came to the terminal to welcome his niece from Worcester.

“We have the whole family coming to my house for Thanksgiving; her mother, my sister, her grandmother; with the family coming up as well,” Warner said.

Nearby, the Amtrak station on Lyman Street in Springfield was also predictably busy on this day before Thanksgiving.
