WESTFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A 23 year-old man was killed in an early morning crash in Westfield, which was not discovered until a farmer found the victim’s car in his field.
Westfield Police Lt. Lawrence Valliere told 22News that Alexander Schultz of Westfield died after his car flipped multiple times before landing on its roof in a field off Root Road. He said that the car does not appear to have hit any trees, adding that the victim was likely speeding prior to the accident.
Valliere said that it’s unclear just when the accident took place, as no one had seen it happen. He said that it could have occurred at anytime between 2:00 A.M. and 7:00 A.M., when the farmer saw the vehicle and called police.
Police Capt. Michael McCabe told 22News that at the time the farmer made the discovery, he was unaware that there was anyone inside the vehicle, and it wasn’t until police got there that this was revealed.
