CHICOPEE, Mass (WWLP) – I’m sure you’ve heard someone say, It’s for your own good. But when a fanatical music teacher terrorizes a promising student as he does in the provocative drama “Whiplash”, you just might question his tactics.
But there’s no questioning J.K. Simmons electrifying performance carrying tough love to extremes.

Miles Teller might have been better off as a m mediocre musician, Instead of having to suffer through the Indignities Simmons puts him through just to realize Teller’s full potential.

One without the other would never have added up to such a blistering experience for the audience. You’ll be asking yourself If a softer approach might not have motivated the young drummer to reach deep enough to confront his remarkable ability?

Together Simmons and Teller create some Intense movie magic. You’ve got to admit they make beautiful dramatic music together. “Whiplash” is the name of a legendary work of Jazz. “Whiplash is also the extent of the Impact you’ll feel.

I feel really good about giving “Whiplash” a crackling good 4 stars.

“Whiplash” is what I call a challenging movie worth seeing, If for no other reason than the great acting.
